Mayville Lions Club
The Mayville Lions Club is the Mayville Area Chamber’s Spotlight business of the week. Our Mayville
Lions Club consists of 26 members, both men and woman of our area.
Lions Clubs are a volunteer organization dedicated to leadership development through community
service. Lion members answer the needs that challenge communities around the world. They are known
for working to end preventable blindness. Lions participate in a vast variety of projects important to
their communities which range from cleaning up local parks to providing supplies to victims of natural
disasters. There are over 12,000 members in 500+ clubs throughout Michigan.
Michigan Lions are very involved with Leader Dogs for the Blind, Eversight Michigan dedicated to the
preservation and restoration of sight through transplantation, research, and education, Lions of
Michigan Foundation dedicated to the improvement of the quality of life of people in Michigan with
unmet needs, and Lions Bear Lake Camp which is owned and operated by Lions Visually Impaired Youth
Camp which opened in July, 2000
Our local Lions Club assists the Mayville Sunflower Festival (parking cars at the bump and run derby),
Mayville Museum Car Show and Pancake Breakfast, Museum’s Easter Egg Hunt, planting and watering of
flowers in the barrels in downtown Mayville, Made in the Thumb Showcase, the White Cane Drive, and
providing hot dogs and cider after trick or treating in Mayville. Our local Lions Club also donates to the
Mayville and Fostoria Fire Departments, Mayville Share Shop, Veteran’s Pavilion, Mayville Museum, and
the Mayville Sunflower Festival. The local Lions Club also actively collects used eye glasses along with
helping with the cost of eye exams and glasses for those who need assistance.
Mayville Lions Club meetings take place on the first and third Tuesday, 7pm, at the Mayville Museum,
